Swimming with the Akaroa dolphins is an amazing experience.
Akaroa (meaning "Long Harbour" in Maori) is located on the Bank's Peninsula, around one and a half hours drive from Christchurch, on New Zealand's South Island. First settled by French whalers in 1838, Akaroa is a pretty seaside village, and is filled with quaint cafe's and gift shops.
Akaroa Harbour is home to the beautiful Hector Dolphin. Known as the smallest, rarest and most sociable dolphin, the Hector welcomes visitors into its environment. And Akaroa is the only place in the world where you can experience the charms of this amazing marine mammal.
Sitting in the flooded crater of an ancient volcano, Akaroa Harbour provides the perfect setting to experience what for many, is a once in a lifetime event.
A small group limit of ten people ensures that your dolphin tour is an even more memorable one, and allows you to get up close to these wonderful mammals.
Akaroa Dolphins
The operators are confident that you will see the dolphins and swim with them.
Of course dolphins have minds and wills of their own. So, if for some reason you see dolphins but cannot swim with them, you will receive a part refund of your tour cost.
